I t
rust that through these pages you will sense something of our vibrant, caring and purposeful school. It’s difficult to put a good book down – there’s something exciting, informative even unexpected on each page – and I know this will be your experience of Ballard.
Our origins as a school stretch back to 1895 and so there is a little of the ‘once upon a time’ dimension to our ‘story’. We are rooted in the New Forest community but have plenty of links with the seafaring and coastal history of our area. The main school building is beautifully located amongst extensive grounds, playing fields and woods – plenty to delight the inquisitiveness and playfulness of every child. Our expectations, too, are timeless – good manners, respect for others and the environment, integrity and service, hard work and an understanding of strengths and weaknesses – whilst our values are Christian ones.
As you turn the ‘pages’ here you will also glimpse the thrill of our current ‘story’ and something of the wholesome and holistic nature of the Ballard family. As well as high academic expectations, you will also see our emphasis on music and drama, art and outward bounds, sport and extra-curricular activities. School visits span the local to the international. Parents and other visitors are warmly welcomed and play a full part in our school ‘narrative’.
Do treat this website as a ‘guide book’ which will whet the appetite for a visit! We look forward to welcoming you here for an Open Day, a play, concert, exhibition, special event or simply a private visit. I hope to have the privilege of meeting you soon and inviting you to become a new ‘character’ in our very special ‘book’.
