Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Walk Feb
The temperature was below zero, frost sparkled on the forest and ice turned puddles into skating rinks. Did this deter the Yr 9`s from taking part in their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh walk on Saturday? Not a bit of it! They revelled in it, shattering ice plucked from every pond, puddle and pool. With clear skies, the scenery was stunning and all enjoyed a superb day`s hike. Not that it was totally uneventful! An untied boot necessitated squidging through the mud in socks to extricate it; a plastic sandwich tray used as a boat in the stream became a problem when it sank and the group realised that leaving it was not an option......they retrieved it! And an injury made one group consider and deal with a minor, but real-life situation. Altogether, a very successful day for the twenty eight participants and four staff.
