2nd in the Craft Guild of Chefs Schools Cookery Competition
Three Year 10 Food Students, took part in the first round heat of this Masterchef style cookery competition at Brockenhurst College. They cooked their chosen two course meal, including dishes such as baked rainbow trout, Thai green curry and asparagus risotto, under immense heat and pressure in the restaurant kitchens of the Colleges Hospitality Dept. Judges John McArthur and Allan Davidson Collier of Brock College had the difficult decision to decide who goes into the final. Two students, instead of one, were forwarded to the final on 10 March. Congratulations to Amy she came Second.
“At Ballard we teach GCSE Home Economics Food & Nutrition, with the emphasis on cooking healthy, wholesome meals for groups and individuals, with sound cookery skills being taught, dishes can be produced by the students to reach restaurant standard food.”
