Ballard Summer Camps – everything you need to know…..

Ballard Camps are open to all – a great way to spend the summer; learning new skills and making new friends.

Our extensive Summer Camps’ programme includes Sport, Gym, Dance, Creative Arts, Stay and Play, Cycle Proficiency, Mad Science, Animation & Programming, Play & Drama and Swimming.

 

How do I book?

Bookings for the Future Ball Stars’ Netball and Basketball Camps are made directly via the Future Ball Stars’ website: www.futureballstars.co.uk.

 

When are the Camps?

Our Camps run from 22nd July – 30th August.

Week 1: 22nd – 26th July

Week 2: 29th July – 2nd August

Week 3: 5th – 9th August

Week 4: 12th – 16th August

Week 5: 19th – 23rd August

Week 6: 27th August – 30th August (Please note that there are no camps on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August)

 

What Camps are there?

Week 1: 22nd – 26th July

Junior Sports, Gym, Dance & Creative Arts (YR – Y5)

Senior Sports, Gym, Dance & Creative Arts (Y5 – Y9)

Private Swimming lessons (max 6 per group). £15.00 per child, per hour.

Beginners (Y3 – Y5)  1.00pm – 2.00pm. Water confidence.

Intermediate (Y3-Y8) 2.00pm – 3.00pm. Stroke work.

 

Week 2: 29th July – 2nd August

Junior Sports, Gym, Dance & Creative Arts (YR – Y5)

Senior Sports, Gym, Dance & Creative Arts (Y5 – Y9)

Stay & Play Camp (YR-Y1)

 

Week 3: 5th – 9th August

Junior Sports Camp (YR – Y4)

Cycle Proficiency Level 1,2 and 3 (Y3-Y9)

Level 1 is for newly learnt cyclists who can ride but do not have any road experience.

Level 1 and Level 2 run on Monday 5th August – Wednesday 7th August.

There are 12 places available each day.

Level 3 is a course for experienced riders who will experience roundabouts and traffic lights.

Level 3 runs on Thursday 8th August – Friday 9th August.

There are currently 3 places available for Thursday 8th August and 9 places available on Friday 9th August.

You will need your own bike, safety helmet, suitable clothes, sun cream, a packed lunch and water.

 

Mad Science Wessex Camp (Y3-Y9)

Mad Science Wessex Camp runs from Tuesday 6th – Thursday 8th August.

6th August – ‘KABOOM: It’s CheMystery’

7th August – ‘Ingenious Inventions’

8th August – ‘Awesome Archaeology’

Mad Science is a leading Science-enrichment provider and their Science Camps offer a daily combination of in-class discovery and exploration, games and hands-on activities. Children are able to touch, see, hear, smell and taste what Science is really all about, using simple, real-world Science techniques that allow even the youngest of campers to enjoy this learning environment.

Campers get to create, build and assemble a variety of take-home projects, while exploring how Science affects the world around us – plus they get to do some pretty awesome experiments along the way.

 

Week 4: 12th – 16th August 

Bikeability – Monday, 12th August and Wednesday, 14th August (Level 1 & 2) and Friday, 16th August (Level 3)

Mad Science Wessex Camp (Y3-Y9)

13th August –ROARING ROCKETS

Blast off this summer and put your aerodynamic skills to the test. Create gliders, planes, rockets and other flying machines!  Take on our runway challenge, will your stunt flyer make it through the highway of hoops!  Build and launch your own rockets, watch them spin, glide and fly high up into the clouds!

14th AugustRADICAL ROBOTS

We will get wired up today in the world of electricity and robots.  Time to move it move it! From the humble light build to moving robots.  Put your circuit skills to the test!  Explore radical robots, how do the move? Have sensory fun with robots, control what they do and get programming in this world of radical robots and wired world day!

15th August -SLIME TIME!

You’ve guessed it…it is time to get stuck into the science of the ooey gooey stretchy stuff and get involved in some crazy polymer action!  Slime of all varieties, fluffy, stretchy, bouncy, glorious gloop – Non-Newtonian style!  This day has it all going for it. Solids, liquids and gases, simply put it’s time to Mix it Mix it!

 

Week 5: 19th – 23rd August

Ballard Animation, Coding & Programming (Y5-Y9)

Theme for the week; ‘Lights, Camera and Coding’.

Play & Drama Week (YR-Y4)

 

Future Ball Stars Netball & Basketball Camps (Y5-Y10)

Wednesday, 21st August and Thursday, 22nd August

Future Ball Stars was founded to provide top level Netball and Basketball coaching to schools, clubs and communities. They provide challenging, fun, well-thought-out coaching and an opportunity for your future Netball and Basketball stars.

Week 6: 27th – 30th August

Ballard Forest Fun Camp – mornings. (YR-Y4)

Ballard Junior Swim & Sports Camp – afternoons. (YR-Y4)

Senior Sports, Gym, Swim, Dance & Cookery (Y5-Y9)

Please note Cookery will be on Friday, 30th August only.

What times do the Camps run?

The camps run from 09.00am to 4.00pm for a full day or from 09.00am to 12.00pm for a half day.

Do you accommodate early drop-offs or late collections?

We can offer wrap-around care to suit you, charged at £10 per hour, by agreement, in advance. Please contact Justin.Whitbread@ballardschool.co.uk to discuss your requirements.

What do we need to bring on the day?

Please ensure you child is wearing suitable clothes for the activities they are involved in.

Please bring a packed lunch (no nuts please), healthy snacks, water bottle, sun cream and a sun hat.

If swimming, please pack a swimming costume, towel and goggles.

If you are attending cycle proficiency, please bring your own bike and a safety helmet.

Do you accept Child Care vouchers?

Yes, we accept Child Care Vouchers. We are also registered with Bright Horizons and accept their voucher scheme.

How much are the Camps?

£35.00 per child, per day, £20.00 per child, per half-day

Discount of £5.00 per child, per day for sibling bookings and early bookings – early booking discount finishes on the 12th July.

Can I just book individual days?

Yes – you can book single days or block bookings for as many days as you require, subject to availability.

Do I have to be a Ballard pupil to be able to attend the Camps?

No, our Camps are open to all, so invite your friends and come and enjoy the summer with us.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

We offer a full refund for cancelled bookings received with at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations not received with 48 hours’ notice will not be refunded.

What happens if it’s pouring with rain?

We have the facilities to relocate activities to indoors, if required. We do recommend that you dress your child/children in appropriate clothing however in the event we experience a light shower during the day.
