Whole-School Excellence
Our most recent whole‑school production, The Wizard of Oz, was the largest in Ballard’s history, featuring over 200 pupils from Years 2 to 11. Supported by a dedicated team of staff and alumni, the production journeyed from early concept to multiple performances at the Regent Theatre in Christchurch.
More Than the Spotlight
Performing Arts at Ballard offers opportunities both on and off the stage. Pupils can explore:
- Set and prop design
- Hair and makeup
- Sound and lighting
- Costume design
- Stage management
These roles develop practical skills, teamwork and leadership in an inspiring, professional setting.
Stories of Growth and Confidence
The impact of our Performing Arts programme is seen in the remarkable journeys of our pupils:
- A hesitant Year 11 pupil was encouraged to audition, despite being ‘completely out of his comfort zone’, and gained a leading role!
- Nervous young “Matildas” who blossomed into confident performers through guidance and encouragement.
- A reluctant singer who found her voice – quite literally – in the glow of fireworks, stunning her friends and teachers.
