About Ballard

There is so much about Ballard that is “excellent & outstanding” (ISI). An award-winning, co- educational, independent day school, Ballard educates pupils from Nursery to GCSE. We sit within 34-acres of woodland and playing fields on the Hampshire / Dorset border, between the New Forest and Solent.

Pupil happiness and welfare is at the heart of everything Ballard stands for. “Our excellent and innovative” teaching is supported by unparalleled pastoral support. All pupils receive the academic attention they need to develop their full potential. Pupils are known, understood and fully nurtured throughout their journey.

At Ballard we absolutely believe that pupils should be fostered, encouraged and equipped not only for future careers, but also for life. Whether through mentoring, charity fundraising or our award-winning outreach programme, our pupils gain invaluable skills throughout their time with us.

No two days are the same at Ballard, with pupils experiencing a broad, challenging, relevant and varied curriculum. With award winning arts, sports, and academic provision, and over 120 clubs and GCSE  ‘Raising Attainment’ sessions each week there is something for everyone. The Arts Council of England recently stated that “Ballard offers a diverse and extensive range of arts enrichment and extra-curricular activities, which contributes well to its nurturing ethos”

Trips are also an important element of the all-round education we offer at Ballard. From Barton Beach to New York we offer a wide-range of opportunities to travel.

The balance Ballard achieves between challenging our pupils in the classroom and beyond, whilst supporting them pastorally, reaps rewards in terms of our academic results.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

“Ballard is not about striving for perfection, Ballard is about much, much more.”

“The attitude at Ballard is very much ‘You can do it’, not ‘Can you do it?”
