Fees and Bursaries

Fees:

Our fees range from £3,455 (Reception) – £6,355 (Year 9 and above) per pupil, per term (Autumn Term, 2024), and include all snacks and lunches as well as a multitude of extra-curricular activities. For any additional charges please, do read our Fee Schedule and our Charging Policy.

Ballard is committed to providing an inspirational, excellent and holistic education for our pupils. We are also committed to supporting our families in the face of the Government’s decision to impose 20% VAT on school fees. Owing to our strong governance and financial planning, we are proud to pledge that we will:

  • Absorb the VAT cost until September 2025
  • Help parents manage their finances and plan for their children’s education by phasing in parental contributions to VAT payments over the coming years
  • Not pass on the full 20% VAT, reducing the impact on future fees.

“As well as absorbing the full impact for two full school terms, we will continue to support parents by only increasing fees incrementally over time to ensure our pupils’ education is not disturbed and ease the burden on hardworking families.

We know many make tough choices to send their children to Ballard, and we are determined to help all our families through this.

As a charity, any surplus is reinvested back into the school and the opportunities we provide for our pupils, and that will continue to be the case.

Our commitment remains unwavering: to provide a holistic and inspirational education for our pupils and to support the whole school community, in line with our charitable aims.” Mr Andrew McCleave, Headmaster.

This support will be offered to all our new families too.

Bursaries:

There are a limited number of means-tested bursaries available each year and these are reviewed annually in the Spring Term. Bursaries are only available for pupils from Year 3 to Year 11 and for current or registered pupils only. Home visits are made by our Bursary company and their recommendations are made to the Bursary committee. In addition to reviewing all relevant sources of income, the school also takes account of capital assets.

All applications for 2025 entry will need to be made to the Bursary Office. Application forms will be sent to parents and all paperwork must be returned by the 24th November, 2024. A third-party company will contact you to make an impartial assessment. All their recommendations are collated and we would hope to let you know of our decision by the end of February, 2025.

The Bursary meeting will take place on Thursday, 13th February 2025 and decisions announced afterwards.

To be considered for a Bursary or for more information, please contact our Bursar’s office: bursar@ballardschool.co.uk.
