“Over 18 months ago, I went through a rigorous tryout process and gained a place on Team England Adaptive Abilities Cheerleading Squad. Last month, I was lucky enough to represent England at the International Cheerleading Union (ICU) World Championships in Florida. We were in an incredibly competitive division with 4 teams in total, and we were delighted when we secured a Silver medal, (0.36 of a point away from Gold!) even beating Canada for the first time in 3 years!

Not only was it a real honour to represent my country at a national and international level in a sport that I love but, it means even more to me that I was able to participate as part of an Adaptive Abilities Team. This means that at least 25% of us are registered disabled and so as a team, we make lots of adaptations to make our sport work for everyone, which is amazing!

It just shows that anything is possible.”
