“It was lovely to return to Beaulieu Abbey this year, the home of many of Ballard’s classical concerts over the last decade.

There was a light, misty rain that gathered around the edges of the Abbey as the musicians made their way to the concert platform. The Senior Chamber Choir, Upper Voices and Year 10 & 11 soloists warmed the hearts of all in the Abbey as they shared their joy of classical music making.

There was such a varied repertoire from Haydn to Holst and Whitacre to Warlock, 8 part unaccompanied a cappella to diploma level solo repertoire, the musicians held the audience in the palm of their hands every step of the way – inspirational!

The Abbey was founded by King John in 1204 and the little church used to be a refectory for the monks; I think they would be quietly smiling and nodding approvingly this evening – music for the soul. A perfect way to spend the evening.”
