It was a beautiful day at Buckingham Palace as four of our alumni, Emily Corrigan and Ben Sawdon from the class of 2023 and India Barker and Sophie Jennings from the class of 2022, received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Also attending was Mrs Alix Brebbia, Maths teacher and her daughter, Camilla, who worked at Ballard last year, during her gap year. Also in attendance, was a delighted Mrs Rachel Wright who has headed up our DofE (Duke of Edinburgh) programme for several years.

Here are a few words from Emily: (pictured above with Mrs Wright and Ben).

“Embarking on the journey towards achieving my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award was a transformative experience filled with challenges, growth, and unforgettable memories. Stepping into the grandeur of Buckingham Palace to receive this prestigious honour was the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance, and hard work. Surrounded by fellow achievers and inspired by the iconic surroundings, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment and pride. This momentous occasion at Buckingham Palace will forever hold a special place in my heart, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of countless new adventures yet to come.”

India wrote to Mrs Wright, to thank her “so much for making my Bronze and Silver such a fun and positive experience, which therefore motivated me to complete Gold too.” Well done, everyone.
