At Ballard, we believe that learning should be an adventure. Our bespoke Forest School, launched in 2018, is a cornerstone of our outdoor learning ethos. Set within our 34-acre stunning grounds, we have three dedicated Forest School environments – one for Nursery and KG, one for Pre-Prep, and one for Lower Prep – designed to nurture curiosity, independence, and resilience. Pupils also enjoy our beautiful Victorian Water Garden pond, where they can fish and dip for aquatic creatures, learning about ecosystems and biodiversity in a hands-on way.
Children thrive when they can explore, create, and take ownership of their learning. Forest School gives them that freedom. Whether they are fire-striking, toasting marshmallows, building dens, creating fairy kingdoms, sawing wood, or making mud kitchens, pupils learn practical skills while developing perseverance and confidence.
Seasonal activities like blackberry picking for tie-dye projects connect them to nature and creativity.
