Our recent production of Mary Poppins Junior brought together every pupil from Years 3 to 6 in a vibrant performance across three shows. It was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to develop confidence, creativity and teamwork, as they worked collaboratively to bring this much-loved musical to life.
Taking part in a production of this scale helps pupils build resilience, communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility – all of which extend far beyond the stage and support their wider development.
It was especially meaningful to reflect that our current Year 11 pupils once performed Mary Poppins Junior themselves, staging their production in a marquee during COVID restrictions. In fact, three members of our current Head Prefect team had principal roles: our Head Girl as Miss Andrews, our Deputy Head Boy as Mr Banks, and our Deputy Head Girl as Mary Poppins. Although our Head Boy was not at the school at that time, he too has benefited from performing in our senior productions, most notably taking the lead role in Grease. Together, they exemplify the confidence and leadership these experiences help to foster.
We are incredibly proud of all our pupils for their enthusiasm and commitment, and grateful to our staff for making the production such a success. You can view the programme here.
