Ballard’s U16 Girls’ Hockey team are the Investec Tier 3 Hockey Southern Counties Champions.
Ballard came top of their group winning 2-0 vs. Aylesbury, 1-0 vs Cokethorpe (Oxfordshire), 2-0 vs Croydon High, drawing 0-0 with Holme Grange (Wokingham) and only loosing 1-0 to St Benedicts (London). A jubilant team got changed and were on the bus about to leave before the organisers realised they had made a mistake and the Ballard girls had to play again!
The girls showed true resilience, quickly getting changed and back onto the astro, where they faced Maiden Erlegh (Wokingham) and drew 1-1 draw with them. The pressure of penalty flicks didn’t rattle the girls with the goal-keeper making two saves and two pupils scoring their penalties, giving them a 2-0 win.
