The Government has now confirmed that the full 20% VAT rate will be applied to private school fees starting from January 2025. Ballard has been planning for this for a considerable time and owing to strong governance and financial management, we are proud to announce that we will be protecting our families from any increase until September 2025.
From September 2025 onwards, the Governors have committed to a phased increase in parental contributions to cover VAT over the coming years. Furthermore, as Ballard will be VAT registered from January 2025, the school will be able to claim back an estimated 4% of its costs (ISBA estimate). Consequently, it is unlikely that Ballard will have to pass on the full 20% VAT figure to parents at any point in the near future.
“Our aim is to support all our families and allow them to plan effectively, and for us to do all we can to reduce the disruption to our children’s education. Our ability to support our community in this way is down to the strength of our financial position and our careful fiscal management over a number of years.
Our commitment remains unwavering: to provide a holistic and inspirational education for our pupils and support the whole School community in line with our charitable aims; we will continue to communicate quickly and transparently with our parents as new information becomes available and decisions are made. Whilst there are challenging times ahead, we have overcome such difficulties before and emerged stronger and more unified. I have no doubt that we will stand together and remain a resilient and supportive educational community for many, many years to come.”
Mr Andrew McCleave, Headmaster
We are delighted by the response from our families to this news.
“As parents, we decided to commit to educating our children at #Ballard. Like many parents at the school, this is a huge, ongoing financial commitment but we do it because we believe our two children will benefit from all the wonderful teaching, activities and holistic education that THEY enjoy so much.
Both are children tell us that EVERY day.
A huge “thank you” to the school, the teaching and support teams, the leadership team, the Board of Governors and the amazing finance team who have been able to make these HUGE commitments.
For many, this will mean that their children’s education can continue at Ballard and for that our family are very, very grateful.
This is…. #TheBallardWay #Notjustwords #Ballardfamily”
