“Our Year 9-11 pupils were lucky to have an amazing opportunity to visit Barcelona for our latest Music Tour. This fabulous trip included some amazing sightseeing opportunities alongside four memorable concerts in iconic venues.

Our Show Band and pupil Band Krash, performed to an audience of over 200 locals and tourist at the fabulous Barcelona Maritime Museum in the centre of the city and in the beach resort of Lloret Del Mar, a real highlight of the week, playing for tourists on the beach and in the local restaurants and bars. The choir were lucky enough to stage a concert in the magnificent Barcelona Cathedral, a real honour, alongside the privilege of performing in Montserrat Abbey, a monastery high in the hills above the city and a sacred pilgrimage site for millions of people. All of these performances will remain with the pupils and staff involved for many years to come and we were also grateful for the support of the parents and grandparents who travelled from England to hear us.

In addition to the concerts staged, pupils enjoyed a spot of culture with tours of the incredible Gaudi sites of Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, along with the Picasso Museum and the beautiful Palau de la Musica Catalana. We even managed to squeeze some relaxation time in at the beach and pool to soak up the sun.

Despite the busy schedule, and the hard work of rehearsing, setting up and performing in the heat, the pupils were such a pleasure to take away on tour and all the staff involved complemented them on their behaviour, teamwork and positivity, even on the long coach journey. It was a truly fantastic week, where the pupils did themselves and Ballard proud. Well done to all involved.”
